Apparently it has a bad oil pan gasket, probably a factory defect. H appens, I guess. Probably will have a loaner when the parts come in, I wonder what it will be? The dealer is both a Mazda and VW dealer, so could possibly be either/or.

being a VW, i’m surprised it has a gasket.
normally VAG use a tube of sealant

If it’s a Mazda/VW dealer, try to get a Miata as a loaner!

Yeah, that worked well, so they replaced it with a gasket for the Mk7.

Not gonna happen. It would definitely be an automatic if it was possible, and I’ve driven an auto ND. I have no desire to do so again, I’d rather be bored and comfortable.

Solid choice.

FWIW, it isn’t leaking oil as much as it’s seeping slowly. So it’s at least perfectly fine to drive at the moment. It’s yet to leave a drop.

Replacing an oil pan gasket takes longer than like an hour? And they don’t have the part? Wut?

There are a few more issues they need to resolve(basically gave them a list of smalls while I was there). But no, they didn’t have the gasket. Gaskets are new-ish for VW, they used sealant up until recently.

Wait, your VW isn’t leaving any oil drips?
Doesn’t that mean it’s out of oil? :P

If they have a mk3 golf/jetta with a stick on the used car lot, give it a go. It will remind you how shit a manual can be. The stick shift in the mk3 is every bit as bad as a manual can be , as the DSG is as good an automatic/dual clutch can be .

To be fair, after the first wave of VW’s throug h the service line, the remaining majority were Mazdas.
